About Metcalfe's
Metcalfe's Skinny, the brand behind these popular rice cakes, was founded in 2009 by Julian Metcalfe, a prominent British entrepreneur also known for co-founding Pret A Manger and Itsu. Initially, Metcalfe's Food Company aimed to supply popcorn and other healthy snacks, including rice cakes, to outlets like Pret and Itsu. In 2015, the larger group split, with Metcalfe's Skinny becoming a standalone business. The brand's success quickly attracted attention, and in 2016, Kettle Foods, owned by Snyder's-Lance (now part of Campbell Soup Company), acquired a majority stake, eventually taking full ownership. Since then, Metcalfe's Ricecakes have continued to be a popular choice in the healthier snack market, known for their combination of wholegrain and white rice for a satisfying crunch, often coated in delicious flavours like milk chocolate.
